Draft revision of the ordinance on energy efficiency requirements for series-produced installations, vehicles and appliances (Energy Efficiency Ordinance), Articles, 2, 4–6, 14–16 and Annexes 1.1, 1.2, 1.5, 1.6–1.8, 1.12, 1.14–1.22, 2.1–2.3, 2.5, 2.7, 2.8, 2.10–2.13 and 3.2; available in German, French, Italian.

The Federal Council adopted the final version of the Energy Efficiency Ordinance, previously notified as 2019/9508/CH. The amendments to the already notified draft Energy Efficiency Ordinance are as follows:

• Refrigerating appliances (Annex 1.1): Number 2.2 of the Energy Efficiency Ordinance, according to which the EEI for refrigerating appliances shall not exceed 80 as of 1st March 2024, has been deleted. Thus, the minimum energy performance requirements for refrigerating appliances will be the same as in the EU as of 1st March 2024 (i.e. 100 EEI) according to the adopted version of the Energy Efficiency Ordinance. For single-door refrigerators (with a ratio of the volume of the three-star or four-star compartment(s) to the total volume of less
than 0.18), the same minimum energy performance requirements as in the EU will already apply as of 1st March 2021 (i.e. 125 EEI).
• Refrigerating appliances with a direct sales function (Annex 1.21): The minimum energy performance requirements, as set out under point 2.1 to 2.5, shall only apply to beverage coolers, vertical and combined supermarket refrigerator cabinets and vertical and combined supermarket freezer cabinets. For ice-cream freezers, gelato-scooping cabinets and horizontal supermarket freezer cabinets the same minimum energy performance requirements as in the EU will apply.
