The Regulation sets rules on habit-forming and narcotic substances and other controlled substances.

REGULATION on the (12th) amendment of Regulation No. 233/2001, on habit-forming and narcotic substances and other controlled substances.

The Regulation sets restrictions on import, export, sale, exchange, delivery, receipt, production, preparation and storage of habit-forming and narcotic substances and other controlled substances.

The substances that are under these restrictions are either listed in International Agreements or have already been set under restrictions in other Nordic countries.
Changes are being made on the Regulation regarding the monitoring authority as it is changed from being the Ministry of Health to being the Icelandic Medicines Agency. This change in the monitoring authority has already been made by law but this Regulation has not yet been updated regarding this.
Other changes on the Regulation are in the manner of changing the aim of the restrictions of the Regulation from restricting the prescribing of restricted substances to restricting the dispensing of these substances.
