Cabinet Regulation on construction materials in which the activity concentration of radioactive isotopes of potassium K-40, radium Ra-226 and thorium Th-232 is determined as well as the requirements for determining the activity concentration and the activity concentration index, the exceeding of which is to be notified to the appropriate authorities

The Regulation lays down:

1) the construction materials in which the activity concentration of natural radioactive isotopes of potassium K-40, radium Ra-226 and thorium Th-232 is determined before being placed on the market in the territory of the Republic of Poland; the list of these materials is included in the Annex to the draft Regulation;
2) the requirements for determining the activity concentration of natural radioactive isotopes of potassium K-40, radium Ra-226 and thorium Th-232 in the construction materials referred to in subparagraph 1, in particular the manner and frequency of collecting samples and their measurement as well as the internal and external factors taken into account when interpreting the measurement results and the manner of determining the activity concentration index of these isotopes;
3) the activity concentration index (I) of natural radioactive isotopes of potassium K-40, radium Ra-226 and thorium Th-232 in the construction materials referred to in subparagraph 1, determined in accordance with the formula laid down in Annex VIII of Council Directive 2013/59/Euratom, the exceeding of which requires the informing of construction supervisory authorities; this index is 1.
