Sailplanes and powered sailplanes
The Swedish Transport Agency’s regulations and general advice (TSFS 2021:XX) on operations with certain sailplanes and powered sailplanes
A new regulation has been decided that, to the greatest possible extent, makes EU rules applicable to operations with certain sailplanes and powered sailplanes that are exempt from EU legislation by virtue of points 1(a), (b), (c) and (e) of Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2018/1139. The new national regulation will largely refer to Regulation (EU) 2018/1976. This means that, in principle, the same operational rules apply to operations with sailplanes and powered sailplanes, regardless of whether they are EASA aircraft or Annex I aircraft.
It is also proposed that the Swedish Transport Agency’s existing regulations on flying with sailplanes and powered sailplanes (LFS 2007:32) be repealed as they are replaced by EU rules and the new regulation.
