An amendment to existing legislation to intrduce a ban on tyres aged 10-years or older on front axles of HGVs, buses, coaches, and on any axle of a minibuses if those tyres are fitted in single configuration (not twin wheels).
The Road Vehicle (Construction and Use) (Amendment) Regulations 2020
The draft regulation aims to;
i) Prohibit the use of tyres aged 10-years and older on the front axles of HGVs, buses, coaches, and on any axle of a minibuses if those tyres are fitted in single configuration (not twin wheels). It places the same limitation on re-treaded tyres if their re-treading took place 10 or more years earlier, and
ii) Require that the date of manufacture on the tyre be legible.
