This Policy Guideline concerns the transport of live vertebrate animals.

Policy Guideline of the Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality concerning the transport of animals at outdoor temperatures of at least 35 degrees Celsius (Policy Guideline on animal transport at high temperatures)

This Policy Guideline interprets the concept ‘transport animals or cause animals to be transported in a way likely to cause injury or undue suffering to them’ from Article 3 of the European Transport Regulation (Council Regulation (EC) No 1/2005). This Article provides that it is prohibited to transport animals or cause animals to be transported in this way. This Policy Guideline confirms that transport by vehicles without an active cooling system at outdoor temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius or more, in any case, constitutes such transport.
