Radio service receivers for cars and for consumers, which are able to receive radio services broadcast by terrestrial radio relay in digital mode

Digital terrestrial compatibility of radio receivers (Article 15(3) of the draft Act on audiovisual communication and cultural sovereignty in the digital age)

Article 15(3) of the draft Act on audiovisual communication and cultural sovereignty in the digital age aims to enact the provisions of the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC) on radio service receivers (Article 113 and Annex XI of the EECC). Firstly, this Article lays down the requirement that vehicle radios fitted to new cars with at least four wheels and designed and constructed for transporting people have interoperability with digital radio services broadcast by terrestrial radio relay. Secondly, using the possibility explicitly offered by the EECC, this Article lays down digital radio service interoperability requirements for other new radio service receivers with an alphanumeric display screen, whose function of receiving radio services broadcast by terrestrial radio relay is not merely incidental.

The Order of 3 January 2008 on radio services broadcast in digital mode by terrestrial radio relay or by satellite in band L or in band S, laying down the characteristics of the signals emitted, as amended, provides that programmes should be broadcast according to the DAB+ standard in band III. This interoperability requirement will therefore effectively mean that the terminals referred to above will have to be DAB+ compatible.
