General Administrative Provision on marking aviation obstacles

In Germany, the General Administrative Provision on marking aviation obstacles regulates whether and how obstacles are to be marked in order to ensure safe aviation. This is done by technical specifications for day and night marking of objects classified as aviation obstacles. In addition, the General Administrative Provision on marking aviation obstacles lays down requirements for the location of markings and lights. Wind turbines are required to be equipped with on-demand night marking systems. On-demand night marking can be activated by primary radar or by signals from air traffic control transponders.
