Order on supplementary provisions for cargo and passenger vessels

There are no substantive changes to the rules governing Danish vessels. The national technical rules for passenger vessels in Notice D of the Danish Maritime Authority are transferred to this Order. In addition, national technical rules covering both cargo and passenger vessels from Notice B of the Danish Maritime Authority are also transferred to this Order.

After dialogue with the industry, selected national technical rules have added a targeted introduction with the intention of facilitating administration of interpretations and potential equivalent solutions. In addition, the rules governing passenger lounges and suspended decks, likewise after a dialogue with the industry, have been adapted to the administrative practice for equivalent solutions that has been used in recent years. At the same time, the general requirements for shipowners’ responsibility for safety are emphasised.

As part of the clean-up of the regulatory structure, the Order has been synchronised with three other orders, which together will replace the existing set of regulations ‘Notice D of the Danish Maritime Authority D’ and certain parts of ‘Notice B of the Danish Maritime Authority’.

The Order concerns national rules for the following areas:

1. Railings on passenger vessels

2. Passenger lounges

3. Persons with reduced mobility

4. Suspended decks

5. Cooling systems and refrigerated compartments

6. Hatches, cargo ladders, etc.

7. Supplements to the provisions of the Fire Safety Systems Code
