This draft Order primarily implements two directives, one of which is Directive (EU) 2017/2108. In addition, the proposed Order contains technical requirements on passenger ships of less than 24 metres that Directive (EU) 2017/2108 exempts from the scope of Directive 2009/45/EC on safety rules and standards for passenger ships.

Order amending the Order on the safety of seagoing ships

Article I, Part Q, of the draft Order, in conjunction with Annex I to the draft Order, contains technical requirements on passenger ships of less than 24 metres. The other provisions of the draft order do not contain any technical provisions that require notification. Mutual recognition is already covered in Articles 28 and 36 of the Order on the safety of seagoing ships [Rvz].
