Order on the prevention of soil, groundwater and surface water pollution from petrol and diesel sales facilities
The Order lays down rules on the prevention of soil, groundwater and surface water pollution from petrol and diesel sales facilities.
The rules concern requirements for the configuration and operation of petrol sales facilities established after 30 September 2001, including requirements for double-walled tanks and jacketed pipes and for various monitoring devices for detecting motor fuel leaks from tank facilities and petrol and oil separators.
The rules also include requirements for tank facilities, i.e. requirements for petrol sales facilities established before 1 October 2001. The rules include requirements for providing monitoring equipment on tank facilities and petrol and oil separators, providing check valves in suction lines, leak testing on petrol and oil separators and providing fluid-tight coatings under pump islands (fuel pumps).
Additionally, the Order is amended such that requirements for providing fluid-tight coatings on areas where motor fuel spillage may occur now also apply to petrol and diesel sales facilities established before 1 October 2001.
