Milk and dairy products
Specification ‘selected quality’ milk and dairy products
The proposed specification prescribes additional requirements for milk and dairy products based on the microbiological quality of milk for cow's milk and milk of small ruminants and on the freshness of milk, because milk must be accepted into the processing plant within a maximum of 15 hours from the takeover at the collector.
The specification sets out additional requirements for products produced on the farm. For products with the additional designation “farm”, it is required that the milk for processing originates from its own farm, or has been purchased from a maximum of 15 farms from the area within a radius of up to 25 km, cheeses are made from raw milk, and fermented products are produced from non-homogenised milk.
The specification refers to milk and dairy products which are produced and processed within one country. The requirements of the proposed specification therefore relate to labelling with the logo indicating the country of production and processing of the basic raw material.
