The draft regulation concerns the hygiene requirements for the provision of cosmetic tanning services, additional requirements for the advertising of cosmetic tanning services and the requirements for ultraviolet radiation equipment

Hygiene requirements for the provision of cosmetic tanning services

The draft regulation provides for a reduction of risk factors associated with dermato-oncologic diseases and the provision of hygiene-compliant services for customers, preventing the excessive use of solaria:

1) it stipulates that cosmetic tanning services may only be provided to adults;

2) it sets out requirements for the content and design of advertisements for cosmetic tanning services;

3) it specifies the additional information that must be provided and introduces a customer questionnaire, which means that in future service providers will be required to inform service users in a more illustrative and impartial manner, both verbally and in writing, of the health risks associated with ultraviolet radiation;

4) it makes the involvement of a health professional compulsory in the training of a service provider's staff;

5) it sets out certain requirements for ultraviolet radiation equipment.

The draft regulation also reduces the burden on the service provider by removing the requirement to record the cleaning and disinfection of the area and equipment used for the provision of the service.
