Live crustaceans and molluscs

Quarantine Requirements for the Importation of Live Crustaceans and Molluscs

The Requirements regulate the importation of live crustaceans and molluscs. The main points of the amendments include:

1.    Deleting the requirements which are not directly related to the animal's health situation, e.g. requirements governed by the Wildlife Conservation Act or the Act Governing Food Sanitation;

2.    Extending the period within which the exporting country must conduct clinical inspections for animals prior to their leaving from the water area or aquaculture facility of origin from three days to seven days; For consignments granted importing approval by the competent authority of aquaculture as part of its national genetic renewal project or for specific research purposes, post-entry quarantine and testing may be alternatives to the requirement of being accompanied by an original health certificate issued by the exporting country attesting the health status of the consignments.
