Terminal Equipment of Third Generation Mobile Telecommunication (ICS: 33)

Draft Amendment of the Third Generation Mobile Telecommunication Terminal Equipment Technical Specifications (52 page(s), in English; 38 page(s), in Chinese)

The third-generation mobile communications (3G) service will be terminated in December 2018. Due to the requirement for CSFB, 3G network will still exist in the mobile broadband (4G) network as heterogeneous networks. Therefore, the frequency of mobile broadband services is added into this regulation as the basis for the third-generation mobile communication terminal equipment certification. In addition, the referenced standard CNS 15285 "General requirements and test methods for chargers used by mobile terminals and other hand-held ICT devices" was revised on 14 July 2017. In accordance with relevant international technical standards, and the "Technical Specifications for Broadband Terminal Equipment of Mobile Broadband Business", the NCC proposes to revise the "Third Generation Mobile Telecommunication Terminal Equipment Technical Specifications". Also, there is no CDMA2000 service currently; therefore relevant test items are deleted. Amendment points are described as below:

1.         Foundation and Scope (revision to Point 1)

2.         Test Items and documents specified (revision to Point 3)

3.         Date of implementation (deletion to Point 5)
