The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) is proposing revisions to the Air Pollution Control Act. Below is the summary of the revisions:
- To reinforce the control of fuel, such as bituminous coal and petroleum coke, and to manage it by way of component standard and burning composition ratio of fuel.
- To draw up regulations for local governments to reduce the quantities of pollutant emissions in Class 3 control regions.
- To authorize local governments to demarcate air quality maintenance area depending on demand.
- To prohibit motor vehicles from installing defeat devices to evade detection.
- To add requirements for component standard for volatile organic compounds to ensure air quality.
- To impose penalties for people who benefit from not observing Air Pollution Control Act, and to retrieve illegal benefits other than fine.
- To add the institution of whistleblower and grant reward money for populace and employees to report illegal behaviour.
