The Food and Drug Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare, proposes to amend the "Regulations Governing Traceability of Foods and Relevant Products" according to Paragraph 4 of Article 9 of the Act Governing Food and Safety Sanitation, which authorizes the central competent authority to prescribe matters to be recorded and other matters to be complied with for the traceability system. The amendments, proposed to enhance food safety and effective management, would require that food businesses establish traceability system on information regarding genetically modified food raw materials in products, products recalled and internal traceability (such as inventory items, discard items and other information useful for tracing the sources and tacking the flow) .
