Proyecto de modificación de la Norma Oficial Mexicana NOM-005-SSA3-2010, que establece los requisitos mínimos de infraestructura y equipamiento de establecimientos para la atención médica de pacientes ambulatorios, para quedar como Norma Oficial Mexicana NOM-005-SSA3-2016, que establece los requisitos mínimos de infraestructura y equipamiento de establecimientos para la atención médica de pacientes ambulatorios (Draft amendment to Mexican Official Standard NOM-005-SSA3-2010 establishing the minimum requirements for the infrastructure and equipment in outpatient medical facilities, which will henceforth be known as Mexican Official Standard NOM-005-SSA3-2016 establishing the minimum requirements for the infrastructure and equipment in outpatient medical facilities) (14 pages, in Spanish)

There have been major advances in the technology and materials used to manufacture medical equipment, making it possible to produce and provide furniture, equipment and instruments that meet higher quality and safety standards for patients, users and staff in outpatient facilities.

The infrastructure and equipment in these facilities must be in keeping with the type of services on offer, and the medical and technical staff tasked with operating them must have the necessary know-how, skills and abilities to make safe, efficient and appropriate use of them.
