Draft Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) laying down rules for the application of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards applications for protection of designations of origin, geographical indications and traditional terms in the wine sector, the objection procedure, amendments to product specifications, the register of protected names, cancellation of protection and use of symbols, and of Regulation (EU) No 1306/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards an appropriate system of checks (and its accompanying annexes) (25+17 pages, in English)

Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 empowers the Commission to adopt delegated and implementing acts setting out the procedures for the registration of protected designations of origin, protected geographical indications and traditional terms for wine and establishing the conditions for the use of certain compulsory and optional labelling particulars for wine.

The purpose of this implementing act is therefore to lay down rules for the application of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 as regards the procedures to be followed for the registration of new protected designations of origin, protected geographical indications and traditional terms, those related to their amendment or cancellation and the conditions for the use of the Union symbol for protected names. It also lays down rules for the application of Regulation (EU) No 1306/2013 as regards the relevant system of checks. Please note that even if intellectual property right issues, in particular related to geographical indications, are part of the notified measure, only the provisions related to technical standards, definitions and labelling are subject to this TBT notification.
