Pictogram to be affixed in order to indicate that surveillance cameras are operating which are subject to the Law of 21 March 2007 regulating the installation and use of surveillance cameras

Draft Royal Decree amending the Royal Decree of 10 February 2008 defining how to indicate that surveillance cameras are operating

The template and dimensions of the pictogram to be affixed in order to indicate that surveillance cameras are operating were specified in the Royal Decree of 10 February 2008 defining how to indicate that surveillance cameras are operating. The dimensions vary depending on the category of the location under surveillance. The pictogram must include certain mandatory elements.

Given that the legal basis for the royal decree will be amended and that some amendments affect the pictogram, it is necessary to update the royal decree in line with these legislative amendments.

The draft royal decree is intended to supplement the Royal Decree of 10 February 2008 in order to take into account the new provisions that will be inserted into the law: the use of smart ANPR surveillance cameras, the use of mobile ANPR surveillance cameras in public places, and the use of mobile surveillance cameras in enclosed spaces. Furthermore, the mandatory elements that must feature on the pictogram have been adapted in line with the new General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679).
