Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPCs)

The Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2017

These Regulations prescribe the class of electrically assisted pedal cycles treated as not being a motor vehicle within the meaning of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 and set out the relevant requirements relating to their construction and use.

The Regulations also make provision for the testing and inspection of electrically assisted pedal cycles and prohibit the sale or supply of such cycles unless they are equipped with brakes as specified in these Regulations.
