Draft act amending and correcting the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction

Draft act amending the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction of 29 July 2005 (Journal of Laws [Dziennik Ustaw] No 193, item 1485) proposes relaxing the restrictions, currently in force in the Polish legal system, regarding the possibility of cultivating low-morphine poppy and fibrous hemp.

The provisions which require notification are: Article 46(2) and Article 48(3) of the Act.

Article 46(2) states that fibrous hemp and low-morphine poppy can be cultivated with the use of first or second-class seed material within the meaning set out in the seed legislation.

Article 48(3) states that the poppy crop residues remaining on the field shall be destroyed at the crop location in the course of an appropriate agrotechnological operation, as per the terms and conditions set out in the cultivation contract or the certificate referred to in Article 47a(2).
