This RVS shall be used for determining the structural capacity using falling weight deflectometers for the following areas: assessing the structural capacity of traffic areas; assessing and comparing the structural capacity of different types of construction; identifying structural flaws invisible to the naked eye and determining structural capacity uniformity; assessing the layer properties in conjunction with further tests to determine surfacing dimensions, plan maintenance measures and determine causes of damage; determining load transfer in concrete slabs; modifying the structural capacity over time or following extreme events. The RVS governs the requirements on the measurement system, the taking of structural capacity measurements and the processing of measurement data, and lays down calibration requirements.
