Food products derived from the processing of tomatoes

Interministerial Decree implementing Article 25 of Law No 154 of 28 July 2016 laying down the minimum quality requirements and quality criteria for products derived from the processing of tomatoes

The draft comprises nine articles and five annexes. The articles lay down the following:

1. - the scope;

2. - legal names, minimum quality requirements, quality criteria, ingredients and types of tomato derivatives;

3. - presentation methods and trade names;

4. - specific requirements for products obtained from tomato varieties that are not red in colour;

5. - reference to Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 to determine authorised additives;

6. - conditions governing the ban on reprocessing products not
meeting the minimum requirements stated in the decree and Law No 154 of
28 July 2016;

7. - the mutual recognition clause;

8. - the financial invariant clause;

9. - the decree's entry into force 12 months following publication in the Official Gazette of the Italian Republic.

The annexes contain the additional requirements in Article 2 with regard to the following products:

A - Whole unpeeled tomatoes;

B - Whole peeled tomatoes;

C - Tomatoes in pieces;

D - Tomato concentrate;

E - Dehydrated tomatoes.
