Technical requirements for Wireless Access Systems (WAS) in the 5470 - 5850 MHz

IR 2030/8/2 & IR2030/8/3 – UK Interface Requirement 2030/8/2 to 2030/8/3 Wireless Access Systems (WAS)

In accordance with Directive 2014/53/EU the interface document contains the requirements for licence exempt Wireless Access Systems (WAS) in the 5470 - 5850 MHz frequency range. It gives a high level description of how the spectrum in the UK is used and stipulates the necessary equipment parameters for WAS transmitters and receivers in the UK.

Commission Decision 2005/513/EC (as amended by Decision 2007/90/EC) harmonised the use of frequencies in the 5130-5350 MHz and 5470-5725 MHz frequency bands. The conditions set out in this interface requirement is in line with the parameters set out in 2007/90/EC. Commission Decision 2006/771/EC (as amended by Commission Decision 2013/752/EU) harmonises the use of frequencies in the 5725 - 5875 MHz band, where Member States may make this spectrum available for use by non-specific short-range devices at a power limit of 25 mW e.i.r.p. Article 3 of 2013/752/EU makes clear that Member States may allow the use of those frequencies under less restrictive conditions than those specified. The interface requirement will have the effect of allowing licence exempt Wireless Access Systems (WAS) at up to 200 mW e.i.r.p between 5725-5850 MHz, as a less restrictive condition.

For information purposely only we have also included a copy of the UK voluntary national specification.
