Requirements for installations that purify wastewater from glasshouse horticulture businesses to remove pesticides, and requirements for spray nozzles and technologies for the application of plant protection products in open cultivation.

Decree amending the Environmental Management (Activities) Decree with respect to the reduction of emissions from plant protection products in glasshouse horticulture and open cultivation

The following provisions are presumed to contain (the basis for) technical regulations: 3.64a, 3.78a, 3.80 and 3.83. The technical regulations will be elaborated in lower-level regulation. The equivalence principle will be applied with a view to mutual recognition.

- Article 3.64a provides that wastewater from greenhouses shall be purified to remove plant protection products before it is discharged. This Article also contains a basis for imposing requirements for the system that carries out the purification.

- Article 3.78a provides that where plant protection products are used in open cultivation, a technology shall be used that reduces drift by at least 75 %. This Article also contains the basis for imposing requirements on test methods used to demonstrate that drift has been reduced.

- Articles 3.80 and 3.83 place requirements on the use of various manners of applying plant protection products in open cultivation, with a view to reducing drift.

The technical regulations for drift reduction (3.78a, 3.80 and 3.83) constitute adjustments and additions to existing regulations. Those regulations were previously notified (Notification Nos 2011/0624/NL and 2013-0527-NL).
