Requirements regulate the importation of dog and cat food.

Main points of the amendments include:

1.  Dog and cat food which is manufactured by a high-temperature sterilization canning procedure and containing no ingredients derived from bovine is not applicable;

2.  Dog and cat food only containing flavour derived from animals excluding bovine as animal-origin ingredients is not applicable;

3.  A systematic audit is possible when the competent authorities provide relevant data and are willing to be inspected on-site by auditors. Also, the re-inspection is necessary and the exporting countries shall agree to it;

4.  To simplify the quarantine requirements of BSE control measures recorded on the original certificate; and

5.  The requirements of BSE control measures for pet chew are deleted.
