The BSMI intends to adopt the revised standards (CNS 601:2016, CNS 606:2016, CNS 4940:2016 and CNS 8144:2016) of ready mixed paint (synthetic resin type), enamel, solvent-base masonry paint and emulsion paint as the inspection standards. New requirements include volatile organic compound (VOC) content, limit of formaldehyde emission, limits of hazardous heavy metals and labelling. The products will be required to comply with the revised standards beginning 1 July 2018.
