Draft MOPH Notification, B.E. ..., entitled "Food Containing Pesticide Residues"

For consumer protection, The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) is proposing to revise the MOPH Notification concerning the maximum residue level of pesticides in Food through a risk-based framework; focused on either short term (acute) or long term (chronic) exposures using Thai Food consumption data and field trial data. Main elements of the draft notification as follows:

1.  The MOPH notification BE 2554 (2011) on Food Containing Pesticide Residues, dated 14 April 2011 and The MOPH notification (No.361) B.E.2556 (2013) on Food Containing Pesticide Residues No 2, dated 6 August 2013, is repealed and replaced by this (Draft) MOPH Notification;

2.  The Pesticide residues in food shall comply with the MRLs/EMRLs set forth in the attachment 2 and 4 to this MOPH Notification.

 In cases other than those specified in the attachment 2 the pesticide residues in food shall not exceed the limits as recommended by the Codex Alimentarius Commission, Joint FAO/WHO Food Standard Programme;

3.  Default limit set forth in the attachment 3 to this MOPH Notification. In cases other than those specified in the attachment 3, shall not exceed defaults limit 0.01 mg/kg;

4.  The method of analysis shall be prescribed in the attachment 5.
