The notified text establishes the physical and mechanical requirements for hollow and solid cement blocks used in confined and reinforced masonry, and the relevant conformity assessment procedures, including sampling and test methods.

The Standard is applicable to hollow and solid blocks manufactured in and imported into the country that are made with hydraulic cement, water and rock aggregates, whether or not containing other materials used in the construction of civil works.

It should be noted that this Standard does not apply to special types of blocks or L- and U-type blocks.
