Proposed Revision of the "Livestock Products Labelling Standards for Foods" (7 page(s), in Korean)

Annex 1 of Labelling Requirements for livestock is to be amended to include new requirements for proceed meat product as follows:

Meat content in processed meat product shall be labelled exactly as provided in the document submitted by licensee of livestock product processing business who reports manufactured items and/or importer who files an import declaration.

Provided, ham (except canned ham), sausage (except non-heated sausage), bacon, dried meat, spiced meat(slices of boiled meat, pork slices) and processed rib products shall bear a label that states meat content excluding water content in each item.

For more information on calculating meat content in each product, please refer to formula below. (Example) Meat content in bacon consists of 80% of pork meat, 15% of water content, and 5% of other ingredients will be 94% (80/85 x 100)
