Electronic displays

Draft Commission Regulation implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for electronic displays, repealing Regulation (EC) No 642/2009 with regard to ecodesign requirements for televisions and amending Regulation (EC) No 1275/2008 with regard to ecodesign requirements for standby and off mode electric power consumption of electrical and electronic household and office equipment and Regulation (EU) No 617/2013 with regard to ecodesign requirements for computers and computer servers (12 pages + Annex 26 pages, in English)

This draft Commission Regulation applies to electronic displays to be placed on the EU market and in particular to televisions and computer monitors.

The draft regulation lays down minimum energy performance requirements and in particular the requirements on maximum power demand in on, standby, network standby and off modes and automatic power down function.

The draft regulation also lays down requirements on resource efficiency-related aspects, including design to enhance extraction of key components, marking of plastic parts and a mercury presence logo.

In accordance with the Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC, electronic displays not meeting these requirements will not be allowed to be placed on the EU market. The draft Regulation is based on the findings of a technical, environmental and economic study which has been carried out with stakeholders.
