Technical requirements for cars and their trailers

The purpose of this regulation is to amend the Finnish Transport Safety Agency’s regulation on technical requirements for cars and their trailers (TRAFI/61749/03.04.03.00/2015), which entered into force on 28 August 2017. The regulation, issued pursuant to the Vehicles Act, lays down more detailed technical regulations on the construction and equipment of cars and their trailers. It also issues more detailed provisions on demonstrating the compliance of cars and their trailers equipped with pneumatic brakes.

According to the regulation, category M, N and O vehicles and their systems, components and separate technical units are type-approved, individually approved and put into service for the first time when, in principle, they meet the requirements of EU rules relating thereto as well as UNECE Regulations. The regulation issues national exemptions from the technical requirements and the demonstration of compliance.
