This draft decree makes it obligatory to display warnings on the packaging and instruction leaflets of combustible air fresheners (incense, candles, etc.) offered for sale (including distance selling) or distributed free of charge. These warnings shall inform the consumer about the precautions to be taken when using these products, due to the emission of volatile pollutants. These requirements are met if the labelling complies with the safety specifications laid down in French standards or in international standards recognised as equivalent to French standards.

The provisions of this draft decree shall enter into force on 1 July 2018. However, in the case of products that have been placed on the market before this date and that are still on the market, these provisions shall apply as of 1 July 2019.
