Draft MOPH Notification, No. … B.E. …., Re: Prescribed foods which are prohibited to be produced, imported or sold.

In order to update and comply with international standards, the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) is proposing to revise the MOPH Notifications as follows:

The MOPH notification (No.344) B.E. 2555 (2012) on Prescribed prohibited food to be produced, imported or sold, dated 17 April 2012 and The MOPH notification (No.358) B.E.2556 (2013) on Prescribed prohibited food to be produced, imported or sold, dated 8 July 2013, are repealed and replaced by this (Draft) MOPH Notification; Prescribed foods which are prohibited to be produced, imported or sold as follows:

1.     Brominated vegetable oil;

2.     Salicylic acid;

3.     Boric acid;

4.     Borax;

5.     Potassium chlorate;

6.     Coumarin or 1,2-benzopyrone or 5,6-benzo-a-pyrone) or cis-o-coumaric acid anhydride or o-hydroxycinnamic acid lactone;

7.     Dihydrocoumarin or benzodihydropyrone or 3,4–dihydrocoumarin or hydrocoumarin;

8.     Diethylene glycol or dihydroxydiethyl ether or diglycol or 2,2'oxybis-ethanol or 2,2'‑oxydiethanol;

9.     Dulcin or 4-ethoxyphenylurea or para-phenetolcarbamide;

10.   AF-2 or 2-(2-furyl)-3-(5-nitro-2-furyl) acrylamide or furylfuramide;

11.   Potassium bromate;

12.   Formaldehyde, formaldehyde solution and paraformaldehyde;

13.   Melamine and its analogues (cyanuric acid);

14.   Food in which 1. to 13. is used as ingredient. This draft notification shall come into force after the date of its publication in the Government Gazette.
