The notified text establishes the list of regulated pests in Nicaragua, in accordance with Article 10.6 and 10.7 (Chapter III) of Law No. 291 (Basic Law on animal and plant health) and its implementing regulations and Article VII.2(i) of the New Revised Text of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) .

The list was prepared on the basis of pest interceptions at entry points, technical data sheets, pest risk analyses (PRAs) for specific pests and diagnosis of samples by the Phytosanitary Diagnostic and Seed Control Laboratory (LDFCS) of Nicaragua's Institute for Agricultural and Livestock Protection and Health, as well as ISPM No. 8 (Determination of pest status in an area) and ISPM No. 19 (Guidelines on lists of regulated pests) of the FAO (Rome) .
