The requirements of paragraph 4.2 of the existing standard, SI 2206 part 1, dealing with hose reel, shall be declared mandatory. This declaration is in line with the mandatory standardization objective to protect human safety.

Paragraph 4.2 deals with the hose and requires the following:

•  The hose should be semi-rigid;

•  It should comply with the requirements of the European Standard EN 694: 2001 + A1: 2007, except for the local marking requirements detailed in paragraph 4.2.1;

•  The hose inner nominal diameter should be 19 or 25 mm (paragraph 4.2.2);

•  The hose length should range between 1.0m and 30.0m. this length should be measured between the reel connector and the hose connector (paragraph 4.2.3);

•  The hose inserting the water into the reel should comply with the requirements of paragraphs 4.2.1 and 4.2.2. It should length between 0.1 and 1.0 m and should connect the water tap to the reel (paragraph 4.2.4) .
