The regulation establishes the types of rubber materials obtained from the mechanical processing of end-of-life tyres and defines that, within the meaning of this regulation, rubber materials obtained from end-of-life tyres are not considered as secondary raw materials if they are used for incineration with or without energy recovery, for pyrolysis, plasmolysis, gasification and similar technological processes where the physical or chemical properties of rubber materials are modified, for landfilling or storage for more than 1 year.

Procedure for terminating the waste status of rubber materials obtained from end-of-life tyres

The draft regulation lays down:

- the procedure for terminating the waste status of rubber materials obtained from end-of-life tyres;

- the criteria for terminating the waste status of rubber materials obtained from end-of-life tyres;

- the requirements to introduce a quality management system for
economic operators who obtain recycled materials from end-of-life tyres
through mechanical processing.
