Draft Order on feed and feed business operators

The draft order defines ‘small quantities’ and ‘local farms’.

§ 11(2) of the draft order stipulates that feed business operators with primary production may produce small quantities and supply them to local farms without being subject to the provisions of Regulation (EC) No 183/2005 laying down requirements for feed hygiene. The provision defines small quantities as up to 5 tonnes and local farms as farms that lie within a 50-km radius of the primary producer. Compliance with all other feed rules is required (see § 3 of the draft order).

§ 11(3) of the draft order stipulates that feed business operators with primary production may supply small quantities to local farms without the delivery being subject to the provisions of Regulation (EC) No 183/2005 laying down requirements for feed hygiene. The provision defines small quantities as up to 5 tonnes and local farms as farms that lie within a 50-km radius of the primary producer. It is exclusively the activity of delivery itself which is exempt. Compliance with all other feed rules is required.
