Automatic weighing instruments
Order on the use of automatic weighing instruments

The purpose of the draft order is to lay down requirements on automatic weighing instruments that are used to measure mass – and where payments are made on the basis of the measurements – but not covered by Directive 2014/32/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 February 2014 on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to the making available on the market of measuring instruments (the Measuring Instruments Directive – MID). Another purpose is to lay down requirements concerning owners of automatic weighing instruments (both those that are covered by the MID and those that are not) when such an instrument is in use.

Under the draft, automatic weighing instruments not covered by the MID shall meet corresponding requirements for a comparable automatic weighing instrument covered by the MID, or meet the requirements of relevant standards or OIML recommendations. The equipment supplier shall, upon request by the Danish Safety Technology Authority, be able to demonstrate that an instrument meets the requirements and the supplier shall keep the relevant documentation for 10 years after the instrument has been placed on the market.

Additionally, a number of requirements are listed for owners of automatic weighing instruments regarding which instrument is to be used, accuracy classes, self-monitoring and reverification.
