Technical Specification - Management of the Rural Environment - Integrated Management System for Agricultural Production. Part 1: Specification

This specification introduces a management system for agriculture which lays down requirements on how to respect and protect the environment and how to showcase the quality of agricultural products as the optimal approach.

Any agricultural holding that wishes to comply with this standard is obliged to formulate a policy and set specific targets, taking into account legal requirements, applicable specifications relating to agricultural products, and information about major environmental impacts.

This standard applies to environmental issues that are under an agricultural holding’s control, which it can consequently intervene in to correct. This standard does not lay down special criteria to evaluate performance when implementing the Integrated Management System.

This standard can be applied to any agricultural holding that:

a) introduces, maintains and improves an Integrated Management System for agricultural production;

b) carries out self-checks and evaluates itself on how it complies with the standard’s requirements;

c) acquires both certification for the Integrated Management System it implements, and a mark that is affixed to its products;

d) advertises acquisition of the certification and mark to third parties.
