ELOT TS 1501-01-02-01-00 Concrete reinforcing steel

Adoption of seventy (70) Greek Technical Specifications (GTS), of mandatory application to all Public Works and Design

ELOT TS 1501-01-02-01-00 Concrete reinforcing steel

The present specification sets out the minimum requirements regarding the provision, cutting, shaping and placing of reinforcing steel of different steel categories and diameters, to elements made of concrete, in order to achieve or improve the structural resistance of the element and/or of the whole construction.

Steel belonging to one of the categories described in the ELOT standards mentioned in paragraph 2 shall be used as load-bearing element reinforcement, in accordance with the requirements of the structural design and the provisions included in the approved designs. The steel elements provided for in these standards are weldable and are delivered in the form of bars, rolls, flattened products and sheets of electrically welded meshes, as well as lattice girders.

Stainless steel or surface treated steel elements shall be used at the positions specified in the design, when the protection of the reinforcement from erosion cannot be achieved satisfactorily with the coating layer of the concrete and no cathodic protection is applied. The stainless steel elements shall be accompanied by certificates issued by the producer and the importer, certifying the steel category to which these elements belong.
