Mushrooms approved for marketing or for the production of mushroom products

Regulation of the Minister for Health amending the Regulation on mushrooms approved for marketing or for the production of mushroom products, foodstuffs containing mushrooms and the qualifications of mycologists and mushroom experts

The draft regulation expands the list of mushrooms approved for marketing or for the production of mushroom products with three edible mushroom types from the Morchellaceae family: common morel (Morchella esculenta (L.) Pers.), black morel (Morchella conica Pers.) and early morel (Verpa bohemica (Krombh.) J. Schröt.).

All three types of mushrooms are partly protected in the Republic of Poland. In the case of common morels and black morels, partial protection applies to mushrooms that grow outside of gardens, horticultural crops, tree nurseries and green areas. Moreover, common and black morels are subject to partial protection with the option of harvesting them (harvest of fruiting bodies by hand).

Due to the above, a clarification concerning common and black morels was introduced to specify that the regulation applies to only these species of mushrooms that come from gardens, horticultural crops, tree nurseries or green areas. In addition, it was stated that all three types of mushrooms may come from outside the Republic of Poland.
