Gas equipment

Order on gas equipment safety

On 8 November 2017, the Danish Parliament introduced a new Gas Safety Act, which will result in a number of orders, including one concerning gas equipment. Gas equipment is the common national term used for all gas appliances, apparatus, etc.

The purpose of the draft order is to draw up an order on gas equipment not covered by Regulation (EU) 2016/426 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2016 on appliances burning gaseous fuels and repealing Directive 2009/142/EC or Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 laying down harmonised conditions for the marketing of construction products and repealing Council Directive 89/106/EEC.

The order establishes uniform safety requirements for gas equipment, regardless of whether or not it is covered by EU regulations.

The draft order also contains the measures that are necessary to implement under the Gas Appliance Regulation.

In addition, the draft order contains a provision which states that application of the order is subject to Regulation (EC) No 764/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 July 2008 laying down procedures relating to the application of certain national technical rules to products lawfully marketed in another Member State.
