Royal Decree on environmental product standards for transport fuels from renewable sources

The proposed text will replace the Royal Decree of 26 November 2011 on product standards for biofuels in order to transpose the relevant provisions and criteria laid down in Directive (EU) 2015/1513.

The key points stemming from the Directive and transposed in this royal decree are:

• Recognition of advanced biofuels and fuels (other than biofuels and conventional fossil fuels) with a renewable energy source;

• Introduction of indirect land use change values
