Breathalysers are subject to national metrological regulation and are placed on the market and put into operation in the Czech Republic following type approval and initial verification pursuant to Act No 505/1990 on metrology, as amended. The subject matter of this notified legislation is the laying down of metrological and technical requirements for specified measuring instruments, including testing methods for type approval and verification of specified measuring instruments.

This legislation sets forth the metrological standard required for the recognition of measuring instrument type approval and verification certificates issued abroad.

The requirements applied to these measuring instruments are also based on European standard EN 15964:2011 and take account of draft recommendation OIML R 126:2012.

This legislation revises the previous version, effective as of 29 July 2014, which was notified under 2014/039/CZ.

For the most part, the changes involve clarifying the wording and adding some definitions that were absent in the previous version of the document. The requirements for approved instruments were only modified in a few cases, but this was only done with a view to harmonising this legislation with document R126.
