Draft Act on technical standardisation and on amendments to Act No 264/1999 on technical requirements
for products, conformity assessment and amendments to certain acts, as amended
The purpose of this draft act is to lay down the basic definitions in accordance with Regulation (EU)
No 1025/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2012 on European standardisation,
amending Council Directives 89/686/EEC and 93/15/EEC and Directives 94/9/EC, 94/25/EC, 95/16/EC, 97/23/EC,
98/34/EC, 2004/22/EC, 2007/23/EC, 2009/23/EC and 2009/105/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council
and repealing Council Decision 87/95/EEC and Decision No 1673/2006/EC of the European Parliament and of
the Council, as amended, and set up the Technical Standardisation Council as an expert and advisory body
to the Chairperson of the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing (the ‘Office’), which ensures
the Office’s independence as the national standardisation body. In addition, the draft act lays down
the rights and obligations of the Office as the Slovak national standardisation body, the key principles
and procedures for the development of Slovak technical standards, the involvement of interested parties
in the development of Slovak technical standards by way of technical committees, the costs of developing
Slovak technical standards, the provision and protection of technical standards and the related supervision
of compliance with the act, as well as the imposition of fines.
