The Swedish Board of Agriculture's regulations and general advice (SJVFS 2010:15) on livestock farming within agriculture, etc. contain regulations for the following species: cattle, pig, sheep, goat, poultry and rabbit. The statute is repealed and replaced by reprinting six new ones, one for each species.

This notification concerns the reprint of the regulations for rabbits (SJVFS 2017:XX), to which certain editorial amendments, as well as some substantive ones, are made. These substantive amendments relate to regulations on: freedom of movement (Chapter 2, § 12), the age ‘16 weeks’ stated in the table for rabbits intended for slaughter (Chapter 5, § 8), as well as the ban on using barbed wire in fencing (Chapter 6, § 1).

Swedish Board of Agriculture regulations and general advice (SJVFS 2017:XX) on rabbit farming within agriculture, etc.

Chapter 2, § 12. The paragraph on freedom of movement concerning the tying together of body parts, etc. is amended so that it applies irrespective of where the animal is kept and not only during grazing, as is currently the case. However, tying body parts together is permitted for treatment purposes if this is necessary to prevent injury and suffering.

Chapter 5, § 8. Removal of the age indication 16 weeks stated in the table for rabbits intended for slaughter.

Chapter 6, § 1. Ban on the use of barbed wire.
