Symbols of totalitarianism
Draft Act banning the use of symbols of totalitarianism for commercial purposes, and amending certain associated acts

In current legislation, only § 335 of Act C of 2012 on the Criminal Code prohibits the use of symbols of totalitarianism in a set form. However, no regulations govern the phenomenon of displaying symbols of totalitarianism for commercial purposes, meaning that there is creeping social acceptance of the legitimacy of earlier symbol systems of dictatorships. Yet this is undesirable, even harmful in terms of collective social memory. The aim of the individual member’s bill is to prevent such legitimacy of this creeping social acceptance.
