Precious metals (gold, silver, platinum and palladium)

Draft Decree-Law amending the legal framework for jewellery and hallmarking, approved by and annexed to Law No 98/2015 of 18 August 2015

It simplifies access to the activity by economic operators of the production and marketing sectors of articles containing precious metals.

It enables the commencement of the activity to be performed simply by advance notification submitted electronically, which shall be granted for an indefinite period.

It eliminates the duplication of applications for the commencement of activity in the case of industrial and lending activities.

It increases the situations of optional marking and testing of articles containing precious metals.

It eliminates the obligation of the existence of an assessor for each establishment.

It ends the payment of the minimum fee per lot, as well as the associated subsidy scheme.
